JEAN PROUVÉ (FRENCH, 1901–1984) FOR VITRA 'ANTONY' CHAIR, DESIGNED 1954 / MANUFACTURED 2002 manufacturer's applied paper label (to underside), plywood and steel frame 88.5cm high, 50cm wide, 65cm deep (34 ¾in high, 19 ¾in wide, 25 ½in deep) The Antony Chair, one of Jean Prouvé’s most celebrated designs, was created in 1954 for a residence hall at the Cité Universitaire d’Antony in France.This example is from original Vitra-licensed re-edition, produced in 2002 in limited numbers.
