RARE CHINESE SUSANCAI TIBETAN-STYLE RITUAL EWER, PENBA HU QING DYNASTY, GUANGXU PERIOD 清光緒 素三彩五爪龍紋藏式賁巴壺the globular body raised on a spreading high pedestal foot, each side of the body decorated with a five-clawed dragon chasing flaming pearl amidst flying bats and stylised ruyi clouds, the knopped neck surmounted by a canopy-shaped mouth with slightly canted sides and rounding inwards to a narrow opening, decorated with bats in clouds, the curved spout issued from the mouth of mythical beast makara 20.5cm high Private collection, London倫敦私人收藏 Its unusual shape with its broad mouth rim and lack of a handle was inspired by Tibetan metal examples that were made as containers for the storage of Sacred Water and used during Buddhist ceremonies.
