AN INDIAN STEEL TALWAR 19TH CENTURY The blade engraved with representations of Indian deities, no scabbard 91cm long overall Provenance: Sir Charles Warre Malet, 1st Baronet (1752-1815) and by descent.Acquired directly from the late Sir Edward Malet (1908-1990), Luxborough, Somerset. Sir Charles Warre Malet, 1st Baronet (1752-1815) was a British diplomat who served in the British East India Company. His first position was at the Mughal emperor residency at Cambay from 1774 to 1785. In 1785 was appointed Resident to the court of the Peshwas of Mahratta, subsequently building a house outside the town of Poona. 品相: Heavily rusted.
