AFTER JOHN ROCQUE- AN ENGRAVED MAP OF PARIS PRINTED ON SILK After Rocque's map printed on 16 sheets and published in 1754, English and French titles above drawing comparison with Rocque's map of London and the relevant city sizes, set in glazed frame visible map 46cm x 68cm, frame 75 by 91cmIt has been suggested that this version printed on silk was intended for use for English men either as a novelty travelling map, or for use as a handkerchief on which the gentleman could express his disdain of the French and the relatively small size of their capital in comparison to London.
