AN EARLY VICTORIAN FIGURED POLLARD OAK PLAN CHESTBY T.H. FILMER, LONDON, CIRCA 1840With two doors enclosing two removeable shelves, on castors, with paper label 'From T.H. Filmer's Cabinet Chair Upholstery, Bedding & Carpet Manufactory, 32 Berners St., Oxford St.'88cm high, 120cm wide, 86cm deepThe cabinet makers and upholsterers Thomas Henry Filmer (later Filmer & Sons) were active from circa 1835 to 1883 at various addresses in Berners Street and Charles Street, London. Provenance: By descent in the Hobhouse family at Hadspen House, Somerset. Literature:Photographed at Hadspen House, The World of Interiors magazine, November 2002. 品相： The chest has scratches, marks, wear and discoloration consistent with age and use. The chest is structurally sound< There are some old splits to the pollard oak veneer and some minor areas of veneer detached from the side at the back left and back right corners. The back left lower corner has some missing veneer. Some loose sections of veneer are present and could be reattached. The top is constructed with a strip of wood running the full width along the back edge of the top and the join is showing. Structurally sound and ready to use.
