Provenance:Acquired directly from the estate of late Gavin Stamp (1948-2017).Gavin Stamp was a British architectural historian, writer and campaigner. One of the most passionate campaigns undertaken by Stamp and the Thirties Society was to preserve the British telephone box. Designed in 1924 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, and believed to be inspired by Sir John Soane, the 'Kiosk No.2' (K2) red telephone box was introduced in 1926 and is renowned for its iconic design and vibrant colour making it a beloved feature of the British landscape. Over three thousand boxes were listed and saved, including all the remaining K2 models and later K6 (1935/6) and K8 (late 1960s) examples.
