CEDRIC PRICE (1934-2003)A PAIR OF STOOLS EARLY 1960sBlack leather, on black painted metal legs and stretchers39cm high, 92cm squareProvenanceMade for the Robert Fraser Gallery, London.Acquired directly from the late Cedric Price (1934-2003).In the early 1960s the architect Cedric Price executed a project for the Robert Fraser Gallery, Duke Street, London for Robert 'Groovy Bob' Fraser (1937-1986). Fraser became a trendsetter during the Sixties and his gallery became one of the hippest locations in London attracting members of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, as well as William Burroughs, Christopher Gibbs and Dennis Hopper. The gallery became the focal point for modern art in Britain and promoted the work of artists including Bridget Riley, Peter Blake, Richard Hamilton, Andy Warhol, Jim Dine and Ed Ruscha.
