A FRENCH EMPIRE GILT BRONZE FIGURAL MANTEL CLOCK LOUIS MALLET PARIS, EARLY 19TH CENTURY Case with mother and child, floral frieze to rectangular plinth below, white enamel circular dial with Roman chapter ring and signed L Mallet, H DE M D D'ORLEANS (HORLOGER DE MONSIEUR le DUC D'ORLÉANS) NO. 957, eight-day twin train movement with outside countwheel strike on a bell, no pendulum or key37cm high, base 26 by 12.3cm Louis Mallet worked in Paris where his workshop is recorded on Rue J-J Rousseau in 1815 when he was appointed clock-maker to Louis-Philippe, Duc d'Orleans (1773-1850), later King of the French.
