A rare Chinese enamelled ruby-red glass snuff bottle, Qianlong mark and of the period (circa 1770-1785), of flattened apple shape with flat lip and slightly concave foot, the opaque ruby coloured bottle finely painted in delicate famille rose enamels with a deer lying recumbent underneath pine tree, the reverse decorated with a standing dear with its head turned to one side, the foot inscribed with four-character Qianlong nian zhi mark, 5.2cm highProvenance:An English Private Collection This rare enamelled ruby-red glass snuff bottle exemplifies the technical refinement and aesthetic sophistication achieved at the Imperial glass workshops during the reign of Qianlong Emperor.
