Provenance:Sale Christie's, London, Travel sale, 28 September 2001, lots 315, 316 The Daniells visited Bithur in early July 1789. A drawing of Bithur from this date can be found in the collection of the Royal Institute of British Architects. Ghazipur is situated 135 miles west of Patna. The Chalees Setoon was a river fort also known as the palace of Forty Pillars. According to William's journal the Daniells were at Ghazipur from 27 to 29 November 1788.
