AFTER MICHELANGELO- A PAIR OF FRENCH BRONZE FIGURES OF NIGHT AND DAY CAST BY FERDINAND BARBEDIENNE, MID/LATE 19TH CENTURY Foundry signature to cast and with Collas reduction pastille, possibly formerly clock or chenet mounts larger 21cm high, 41cm wide The original marble sculptures were made by Michelangelo Buonarotti (1475-1564) for the tomb of Guiliano de Medici in the S. Lorenzo in Florence from 1524 to 1534.
