A Chinese Han women's formal skirt, circa 1840, embroidered on a coral red satin silk ground with panels of dragon and phoenix, wide pleats, 90cm high hem to top of cotton band These skirts with the dragon and phoenix motif were used for either wedding celebrations or part of court regalia when attending a Palace function with their husbands. They wore a three quarter length jacket and fringed waistcoat displaying a rank badge reflecting their husbands rank within the court. 清十九世紀 紅地緞繡金龍紋馬面裙 品相： some stitching missing to pleats and edges and some later stitching and some stains to hem and lining and cotton band
