A finely carved Chinese black jade bead, Eastern Zhou Dynasty (6th-5th century BC), of cylindrical shape and carved in low relief around the sides with stylised dragons, 3.5cm high x 1.7cm diameterProvenance:Private Hampshire collectionSimilar scroll pattern incorporating circular 'eyes' and rolled snouts suggestive of dragon heads can be found on two jade beads dated Eastern Zhou dynasty, 6th-5th century BC, sold in Fine Chinese Art from the Arthur M. Sackler Collection; Christie's New York, 18 March 2009, lot 313.
