A chalice in vermeil and gilt copper, Italy, late 16th/early 17thC A polylobed gilt copper foot, richly decorated with relief medallions depicting instruments of the Passion and angels' heads, with a frieze of mascarons around the edge. The stem, with its engraved baluster knot, rests on a base adorned with relief motifs. The gilt silver cup is flared and has a smooth surface. Italian work from the late 16th or early 17th century.
