拍品描述

An Imperial Tula steel jewellery box with inlay, Russia, late 19thC A Russian damascened steel casket, attributed to the Tula workshops (late 19th century) by Svechnikov (marked above the keyhole). The metalwork features a lavish decoration of rose garlands, foliage, scrolls, and finely ornamented circular medallions, executed in silver and brass inlay using the traditional techniques of Tula artisans. The surfaces are meticulously hatched, textured, and polished, attesting to the virtuosity of the workshops, which also produced luxury weapons. The interior is lined with its original red velvet; the lid has a mirror on the inside. The casket rests on four steel feet and comes with its key.
