拍品描述

Y A Japanese ivory netsuke of a shishi, Edo period (18th/19thC), W 4,2 cm - 17g (+) Katabori netsuke in the signature triangle shape of early pieces. In the 17th and 18th centuries, merchants would cut their ivory into triangular cross-sections before selling it. Netsuke artists, wary of wasting any of the precious material, adapted their designs to this shape. Himotoshi: one large on the bottom, one smaller on the side. (+) CITES certificate for commercial activities inside the EU, no. 2025/BE00624/CE
