A White Jade 'Da Ji' Double Gourd Vase and Cover

清乾隆 白玉雕大吉福壽紋葫蘆瓶 The vessel is finely carved in double-gourd form, decorated in low relief with the auspicious characters da ji (great fortune) amid bats, cranes and scrolling clouds. The upper section is flanked by elephant-form handles suspending loose rings, and the domed cover is surmounted by a pierced finial with further loose rings. The stone is of an even creamy-white tone. Qing dynasty, Qianlong period.
