A 'Ganzhou' 'rice measure' jar, Song - Yuan dynasty

Property of a Gentleman Width 2⅞ in., 7.4 cm Jars of this type were possibly made in imitation of basketwork rice measures and are known from the Ganzhou kilns, located in Jiangxi province. Compare a closely related jar sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 4th April 2017, lot 3075; another included in the exhibition Song Chinese Ceramics. 10th to 13th Century, Eskenazi, London, 2003, cat. no. 19; and a third from the Scheinman collection published in Robert Mowry, Hare's Fur, Tortoiseshell and Partridge Feathers, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1996, pl. 110.
