A teadust-glazed bottle vase, Seal mark and period of Qianlong

Monochromes from an Important American Private Collection the base impressed with a six-character seal mark Height 13 in., 33 cm Enrobed in an olive-green glazed flecked with a golden-yellow mist, this regal vase embodies the refined aesthetic of the Qianlong court. First produced during the Yongzheng reign as a means to imitate bronze wares, wares glazed in so-called ‘tea-dust’ glazes have become particularly celebrated in Japan for their feeling of antiquity, dappled surfaces and tactile quality.
