Property from a New Jersey Private Collection the base with a six-character mark in underglaze blue within a double circle Diameter 8½ in., 21.5 cm Compare the present example with a pair of bowls of closely related design, although with slightly larger lotuses, originally from the Elphinstone Collection and the Percival David Foundation, now in the collection of the British Museum, illustrated on the Museum’s website (accession nos PDF,B.576, PDF,B.577), and a single bowl from the Baur Collection, illustrated by John Ayers in The Catalogue of the Baur Collection, vol. III, Geneva, 1972, pl. A 372. A closely related example was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 26th November 1980, lot 361, and another example was sold at Christie’s New York, 14th September 2012, lot 1527.
