Mughal, Indo-Portuguese, Massive Inlaid Chest, 17th-18th Century 17th-18th century This is a massive chest with a now hinged lid having mother of pearl and silver inlays to the top, front, and sides. The front panel with large oval floral inlaid pattern with matching left to right inlays of flowers, leaves, both in mother of pearl and silver. The borders are inlaid with scrolling floral and leaf designs. The sides and top with smalelr inlay in the same design motifs. The wood shows so much patina and use to the top, as well as patina to the sides, front, and back. The corners are all joined with dovetails. Mark believes this chest was owned by royalty, based on the size and the amount of fine inlay and workmanship. Extremely rare piece for any home or museum collection.
