Indian Bronze Sculpture of Shiva as Vinadhara Early to mid 20th century, Indian Indian cast bronze sculpture of Shiva as Vinadhara or the 'Vina Bearer", or the Lord of Music and Knowledge. As Vinadhara, Shiva uses music to guide souls toward enlightenment. In his rear hands, he holds a leaping deer to represent his control over the restless, wandering mind and a battle-axe to symbolize the severing of ignorance and ego. This very heavily cast bronze with hand chased detail to crown, costume, implements, necklace, ect., on a raised double lotus base mounted on top of a rectangular base. The patina ranges from a medium brown to some areas of dark brown with slight areas of green patina. Shiva is wearing a skirt depicting tiger skin. A beautiful example of Hindu sculpture.
