Large Fantastic Famille Rose Mandarin Vase; Stylized Dragon Handles Late 18th-early 19th century, Chinese A large fantastic famille rose Mandarin vase. Stylized dragon handles with gilt highlights. The colors of the enamel are vibrant and the painting quality is very high. There are two large center panels of Mandarins with beautifully painted robes, armor, and gilt highlights to crowns. The opposite panel with Mandarin court women carrying lanterns in a garden with faux-painted stone and a beautiful screen with a dragon among clouds in upper left. All details to robes and gilding is the finest quality. The top two panels on the neck insuite. The top two panels match with a beautifully seated courtesan and a finely details root wood chair. A small child is seated and holds a fruit. The opposite panel on the neck is a royal woman with two court attendants. The underside of the top neck rim with dragon and flaming pearls amongst clouds. Pink ground with geometric pattern with bats, butterflies, and beautifully painted blooming flowers. The band above the foot with stylized blue enameled archaic dragons and scrolling lotus design. Bottom foot is raised with unglazed foot and bottom. Cataloguer's Note: This is one of the most beautiful Mandarin vases Mark has owned. Mark has admired the quality of this vase for many years.
