Japanese Enameled Skeletons And Monks Bottle Shaped Vase Late 19th Century, Japan Unusual Japanese Enameled Vase with skeletons and monks. Meiji period. The artist decorated the vase with raised enamel design, gilt highlights on a brown glazed filled with areas of gold splash to the neck and body of the vase. A very unique piece. Mark Walberg's personal note: "I have been buying Japanese porcelain for over 50 years and there is a particular artist that does this particular work with skeletons. I have probably seen 6 other vases with this type of motif in the last 50 years."
