Large Signed Japanese Satsuma 4-Panel Vase Meiji period, Japanese Large and impressive satsuma vase with four completely different painted panels. The first panel with male and female pheasants, wisteria vines, bamboo and flowers. Second panel features a scene of a large temple with pine trees, mountains, and people strolling on temple grounds, gilt highlights to all kimonos and temple architecture. Third panel is a mountain landscape scene with large finely painted evergreen trees with a Japanese house in the distance, a stream flowing through, and three elegant strolling courtesans. Fourth panel is a larger scale picture of an outdoor scene with flowers and trees and mountains in the distance, there are two larger painted Japanese Geisha with a child attendant to each side and finely gilt robes with lake water to the lower section of the panel and other courtesans walking in the distance. Cobalt blue borders and neck are all painted in raised gilt. Signature to the bottom.
