Large Pair of Chinese Ming Bronze Altar Pricket Candlesticks 16th- 17th century, Chinese A large and impressive pair of Chinese Ming dynasty bronze altar pricket candlesticks. Top section features a flower design with outside edges cast with lotus pods, leaves, and blooms. The top section dropping down to a very unusual openwork cast vase with scrolling lotus design. The vase is mounted to a bottom large lotus leaf with lotus pod, blossoms, and leaves to the exterior. Coming down to the next section of another openwork cast scrolling lotus vase, mounted to the three Buddhist lion head sections with lappets, raised mane, and fierce teeth. The whole piece is on tripod bronze legs with mythical claws to he bottom. Now sitting on a matched pair of early 20th century carved wood stands.
