An original Kawabata Shungaku (20th Century) Japanese Nihonga landscape painting depicting misty layered mountains, pine trees, and a figure crossing a rustic bridge. This is s characteristic of late Meiji to early Sh_wa period (circa 1900?1940) nihonga landscape painting. The soft ink washes combined with color hints suggest influence from the Shij_ school or Nanga (Southern school) traditions. The title and chop are in the lower, right corner. The entire scroll measures 23 inches X 58 inches. This painting is on paper which is attached to a silk backing. There are some small tears in the edges of the scroll and some light creasing.
