拍品描述

Period 19th century Description Of compressed globular form, with right-angled spout. With a carft Gongju mark on the base. 'Gongju' is a renowned mark found on high-quality Yixing zisha teapots from the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic period. These teapots were mainly produced for export to Southeast Asia (particularly Thailand) or for elite patrons and the imperial court. Historical sources suggest that the Gongju workshop originated during the Ming Dynasty. During the reign of King Rama V of Thailand, Yixing potters supplied finely crafted zisha teapots bearing the Gongju mark, which became highly prized. Dimensions 8 x 13 x 10.5 cm Condition Report The cover with a chip. Some of the sharp ends with very miniscule wear, most noticeably super tiny dents to the spout. No restoration.
