拍品描述
Period 19th century Description The shaped two-panel tabletop, above a narrow plain waist, with beaded and openwork aprons carved with acanthus scrolls and stylised peony motifs, stands on cabriole legs terminating in claw-and-ball feet, joined by a central stretcher. An interesting point to note is the combination of the two decorative motifs: the traditional Chinese peony blossom and European-style acanthus leaves. In this instance, the beaded elements growing amongst the furled leaves carved on the aprons probably represent stylised acanthus flowers. Dimensions 92.5x110.5x54.5 cm Condition Report The paneled tabletop has become detached. The top and the apron have separated from the frieze. The underside shows remnants of old glue, indicating that the structural elements of the table have come apart. Otherwise, the construction of the table remains stable.
