Period Tibet, 18/19th century Description A thangka depicting Green Tārā seated at centre, rendered in vibrant mineral pigments and surrounded by attendant figures, masters and narrative scenes within a mountainous landscape setting. Below, the wrathful protector Six-Armed Mahākāla appears enflamed within a halo of fire, trampling obstacles and flanked by subsidiary scenes. The composition follows a traditional Central Tibetan painting idiom, combining a hierarchical arrangement with rich episodic vignettes. The thangka retains its original textile mounting of orange brocade, now worn and with areas of loss, consistent with prolonged ritual use. The reverse bears an extensive Tibetan inscription in cursive script, likely dedicatory and liturgical in nature, together with additional later Chinese characters relating to storage or transport.
