Period 18th/19th century Description The rectangular top, supported by four square-section legs terminating in scrolling motifs, each side with a narrow apron with finely carved interlocking rings. A zitan kang table of comparable style and size was sold at: Sotheby's, London, 8 November 2011, lot no. 7997. *Please note: prospective purchasers are advised that several countries prohibit the importation of property containing materials from endangered species, including but not limited to coral, ivory and tortoiseshell as well as certain hardwoods such as huanghuali and zitan. Dimensions 32 x 92 x 40 cm Condition Report The tabletop slightly discoloured and the panel lines visible due to wood movement. A starting hairline crack on the short side of the top. Multiple restorations visible throughout. Some remnants of former polishing visible. Some movement visible at one of the mitered corners. The aprons are beautifully decorated and all ornaments remain present and in place. The table is structurally secure but would benefit from professional cleaning and restoration.
