A ROMAN BRONZE FIGURE OF MINERVA, CIRCA 1ST-2ND CENTURY AD This lot is from a single owner collection and is therefore offered without reserve The Jorgen Ruben Gallery Ledger, entry from 2012: “No. 819, Statuette of Minerva, Roman? The goddess of wisdom and war strategy standing with her weight on her left leg, the right pulled back with the foot splayed, wearing a long peplos, her sandaled toes emerging from below the hem, a himation draped diagonally over her left shoulder, her snaky aegis centered by a gorgoneion, her right hand upraised, perhaps once holding her spear, the left hand projecting forward, perhaps once holding her shield. The face with a serene demeanor and crowned by a Corinthian helmet positioned high on her head and surmounted by a sphinx.
