A TURQUOISE FAIENCE RING, NEW KINGDOM, DYNASTY XVIII This lot is from a single owner collection and is therefore offered without reserve The Jorgen Ruben Gallery Ledger, entry from 2005: “No. 51, JS, 18th dyn. ring” Gallery price: EUR 450 or approx. EUR 750 adjusted for inflation at the time of writing. Egypt, circa 1550-1292. Of typical circular form, surmounted solely at the top by a flattened prism with tapering sides, its surface covered overall with a subtle glaze of attractive turquoise-blue hue. Manufactured using mold-made techniques that allowed for efficient large-scale production, these rings provided accessible personal adornment for a broad segment of society while also embodying the aesthetic and cultural values associated with more costly materials such as turquoise or lapis lazuli.
