拍品描述
A FINE SIX-PANEL ‘WINTER LANDSCAPE’ FOLDING SCREEN, BYOBU, EDO PERIOD, 18TH-19TH CENTURY This lot is from a single owner collection and is therefore offered without reserve Japan. Ink and silver foil on paper. Mounted on silk brocade on six roiro-lacquered wood panels with metal fittings. Finely painted with a winter landscape with rolling hills and high mountains dotted with snow-covered pines, small craggy rocks, and pavilions nestled within the scenery, a lone horse rider slowly makes his way along the treacherous path—dwarfed by the grandeur of the terrain, all framed by silver clouds and under the guiding light of the full moon.
