A GREEN JADE ‘BIRD’ PENDANT, HONGSHAN CULTURE China, 4700-2500 BC. Of flattened form, carved with protruding round eyes and prominent chest, the outstretched wings subtly detailed with grooves and ridges simulating feathers. The reverse pierced with an aperture for suspension. The semi-translucent stone is of a rich green color with opaque creamy alterations.
