A MOLDED PALE GREEN GLAZED ‘DRAGON’ BISCUIT SNUFF BOTTLE, JINGDEZHEN, 19TH CENTURY China. Of pear form, molded in high relief with a scaly four-clawed dragon with carved details and bulging eyes highlighted in black enamel, its sinuous body wrapping around the bottle while he spays water. The surface accentuated with greenish-turquoise splashes. Stopper: Agate on glass platelet, carved spoon Dimensions: Height including stopper 80 mm. Diameter neck 13 mm and mouth 8 mm. This bottle is likely part of a group produced in Jingdezhen by the masters Chen Guozhi and Wang Bingrong. Wang Bingrong was renowned for his skill in crafting molded biscuit snuff bottles with intricate dragon motifs. The color and style of the present example closely align with Wang Bingrong’s work.
