A RED-OVERLAY ‘LOTUS POND’ GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE, 1800-1860 China. The bottle of elongated ovoid form, supported on an oval foot and rising to a cylindrical neck with flat lip, finely carved through the outer deep ruby-red layer to the translucent milky-white ground to depict lotus flowers, buds, and pads rising from a band of waves encircling the foot, flanked by wading and flying egrets. Stopper: Tourmaline, carved spoon Dimensions: Height including stopper 81 mm. Diameter neck 13 mm and mouth 6 mm.
