AN UNUSUAL RED AND GREEN OVERLAY ‘PEACH AND LOTUS’ SNOWFLAKE GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE, 1760-1840 China, probably imperial glassworks, Beijing. Of compressed globular form, supported on a green lined oval foot and rising to a cylindrical neck with flat mouth, finely carved through the sapphire-green and ruby-red layer to the bubble suffused ground, one side featuring a bat nibbling on a cluster of fruiting peaches, the reverse with a lotus spray issuing a red blossom. Stopper: Baltic amber on horn mount, carved spoon Dimensions: Height including stopper 70 mm. Diameter neck 15 mm and mouth 9 mm.
