A FINE SILHOUETTE AGATE SNUFF BOTTLE WITH IMMORTAL, 19TH CENTURY China. Well hollowed, of flattened ovoid form, supported on an oval foot and rising to a cylindrical neck with flat lip. The lapidary cleverly utilizing the darker shadings in the stone to highlight an immortal figure seated beside a pine tree, surrounded by a pair of bats, a bird, and three butterflies, all above wave-patterned rockwork. The translucent stone is of a misty-gray tone with dark brown patches. Stopper: Jasper cabochon on a black platelet Dimensions: Height including stopper 57 mm. Diameter neck 14 mm and mouth 7 mm.
