A FINE SHADOW AGATE ‘BIRD ON TREE’ SNUFF BOTTLE, 1760-1880 China. Well hollowed, the rounded-rectangular body supported on a short oval foot ring and rising to a cylindrical neck with a flat rim, cleverly utilizing the black-brown inclusions to the front, the stone is carved to depict a raven perched on a tall tree, its eye and beak meticulously incised, as is the slender silhouette of the sinuous tree. Stopper: Tourmaline on a black vinyl collar Dimensions: Height including stopper 60 mm. Diameter neck 17 mm and mouth 7 mm.
