AN EGYPTIAN LIMESTONE RELIEF FRAGMENT DEPICTING A YOUNG PRINCE, OLD KINGDOM, 5TH-6TH DYNASTY This lot is from a single owner collection and is therefore offered without reserve The Jorgen Ruben Gallery Ledger, entry from 2012: “No. 814, Relief: profile of a man. Egypt Ancient Empire, 6th dyn. white limestone, H.: 32.5 cm. HH 1980” Gallery price: EUR 17,500 or approx. EUR 25,000 adjusted for inflation at the time of writing. Egypt, circa 2494-2181 BC. Carved in sunken relief, the fragment preserves the torso of a young prince in profile to the left, with delicate traces of ancient pigment, wearing a wide torque. The face is finely detailed with almond-shaped eyes under arched brows and full lips drawn into a gentle smile, all framed by a shoulder-length wig.
