A RARE PAIR OF EGYPTIAN BRONZE FIGURES OF KNEELING PHARAOHS, PTOLEMAIC PERIOD This lot is from a single owner collection and is therefore offered without reserve The Jorgen Ruben Gallery Ledger, entry from 2005: “No. 69, H BX, Egyptian pair of bronze Pharaohs Late period” Gallery price: EUR 54,000 or approx. EUR 90,000 adjusted for inflation at the time of writing. Egypt, circa 332-30 BC. Each solid cast figure shown kneeling, the feet separated, the toes splayed, arms lowered and bent at the elbows, projecting forward above gently sloping thighs, the hands with the palms turned in, the torso with broad shoulders, a slender waist and a drop-shaped navel, wearing a belted, pleated kilt with a central tab, and a striped nemes-headcloth fronted by a uraeus with side loops, its tail running straight over the crown. The face with narrow, convex, slanted eyes and modeled brows, a slender nose rounded at its tip, and a small mouth with protruding lips, with prominent ears, rectangular tenons below the feet and knees for insertion.
