A PRISTINE WHITE JADE ‘BASKET’ SNUFF BOTTLE, 1750-1850 China. Well hollowed, of compressed globular form, rising from a shallow oval foot to a slightly waisted neck with flat mouth, skillfully worked in varying levels of relief in resemblance of bamboo, simulating a vessel wrapped for protection in a basket weave casing. The semi-translucent stone is of a pale greenish-white color of even tone with few icy white inclusions. Stopper: Coral with metal fitting Dimensions: Height including stopper 66 mm. Diameter neck 21 mm and mouth 5 mm.
