A Chinese mother-of-pearl-inlaid huanghuali box and cover Late Qing dynasty The cover with two ladies reading under a plum tree, the mother of pearl incised and with traces of black, green and red pigment, 19cm long x 10.1cm wide x 5cm high. 清晚期 嵌螺鈿黃花梨蓋盒 Condition Report: Generally good. Approx. 2cm loss to one branch. A tiny crack further down the same branch. Some foxing to interior silk lining, which has come slightly detached from one of the small sides.
