A Chinese ink stone in zitan box and cover Mid/late Qing dynasty The ink stone carved with archaistic angular scrolling motifs, 12.5cm long, contained in a fitted zitan box and cover of simple, elegant form, 14.2cm long x 10cm wide x 3.4cm high. 清中/晚期 硯台及紫檀木盒 Condition Report: The box with some surface wear including slight loss to patina and a few scattered stains. Approx. 10mm wide chip to the lower edge of the fitted indentation housing the ink stone, with associated very fine crack. The stone with light wear including extensive ink residue, a couple of microscopic nibbles otherwise generally good.
