A Chinese hongmu scholar's box Late Qing/Republic period The box featuring mortice and tenon joints, with a sliding cover to the front, the top mounted with a metal handle, 33cm x 19cm x 10.5cm. Generally in good condition, with minor surface wear commensurate with age. The top edge of the cover may have been re-glued. The upper right corner of the cover is loose at the joint, with separation extending along the adjoining long side moulding, with a small crack to the reverse of approx. 2.5cm long.
