Three Chinese blue and white export plates Qing dynasty, 18th century Each painted with a rainy lakeside scene, depicting a servant holding an umbrella running after an elderly figure on a bridge, the elderly man shown asking a cowherd for directions, 29.6 - 33cm diameter (3). 清十八世紀 青花山水人物紋盤三件 The scene is based on a passage from the Tang Dynasty poem “Qingming” At Qingming time, rain drifts on in soft and endless streams. On the road, travellers are lost in deep sorrow. I ask where a roadside inn may be found, and a cowherd points afar toward Apricot Blossom Village. 清明時節雨紛紛，路上行人欲斷魂。 借問酒家何處有，牧童遙指杏花村。 Condition Report: Expected firing flaws, including iron spots, pitting, and fritting.
