A pair of Chinese blue and white 'Deshima island' dishes Qing dynasty, Kangxi/Yongzheng period Each rising from short tapered foot to shallow sides and barbed rim, painted with figures on the eponymous island, 20cm diameter (2). The glaze on both plates is very matte, almost like shipwrecked material, although not common in this type of dish. One dish with infilled rim dish and two rim hairlines, and some apparent overpainting to rim border at 11 o'clock, possibly covering a u-shaped restuck section. The second dish with extensive over-spraying to the top half of the rim, although it is not clear what this covers, possibly a U-shaped restuck section. Extensive fritting, a number of which have been infilled. The glaze on both plates is very matte, almost like shipwrecked material, although not common in this type of dish.
