A pair of Chinese painted enamel 'lotus' bowls Qing dynasty, 19th century Each enamelled to the exterior with peony and lotus blooms entwined with leafy tendrils above a lotus-petal band, the interior enamelled with five bats encircling a circular medallion with the character ‘shou’ in the centre, all reserved on a turquoise ground, 17.3cm diameter (2). 清十九世紀 銅胎畫琺琅松石綠地纏枝牡丹蓮花「五蝠捧壽」紋碗一對 Condition Report: One with enamel loss to the exterior of the mouth rim and the exterior of the foot rim; the other with enamel losses around the mouth rim to both the interior and exterior, also around the foot rim. Both with extensive hairlines and minor enamel losses to the base. Expected old wear to the surface, consistent with the age and type, including hairline scratches and enamel flakes.
