A GEORGE III CARVED GILTWOOD, GESSO AND PAINTED CONSOLE OR SIDE TABLE IN THE MANNER OF ROBERT ADAM, CIRCA 1800 With a white marble top and en grisaille portrait panels, the frame with a trade label for Isherwood's 90cm high, 165cm wide, 64cm deep The label to the carved frame reads 'Isherwood's, 35, Ludgate Hill, London: Paper-hanging manufacturers to Her Majesty, house painters, carvers, gilders, plate glass and cabinet warehousemen'. The partnership of Isherwood & Bradley is recorded in BIFMO as operating from The Golden Lyon, 35 Ludgate Hill, London; upholders, decorators and paper stainers and gilt leather makers (fl. 1785-96). Following Benjamin Bradley's passing in 1792, Henry Isherwood continued the business, operating under Isherwood & Son. Following Henry's passing in 1812, his son, Thomas Nicholas Isherwood, continued the family business of Isherwood's, receiving a royal warrant circa 1840 during Queen Victoria's reign.
